Here is a bad picture of last night’s yummy dinner: El Pollo Loco.
I had the a chicken breast, coleslaw, salsa, wrapped in tortillas and eaten with a huge chunk of salsa on each bite.
So simple and so tasty
[Again, because this is kind of a life blog, I would like to share my faith with you... since it's part of who I am. Hope ya'lls don't mind ]
We had the family small group Bible study at Joe’s last night. I actually meant to post on a small group meeting we had a couple weeks ago. It had to do with the plagues from the book of Exodus.
Here are the 10 plagues in order:
- Water, which turned to blood and killed all fish and other aquatic life (Exodus 7:14–25)
- Frogs (Exodus 8:1–8:15)
- Lice (Exodus 8:16–19)
- Flies or wild animals (Exodus 8:20–30)
- Disease on livestock (Exodus 9:1–7)
- Unhealable boils (Exodus 9:8–12)
- Hail and thunder (Exodus 9:13–35)
- Locusts (Exodus 10:1–20)
- Darkness (Exodus 10:21–29)
- Death of the first-born of all Egyptian humans and animals. To be saved, the Israelites had to place the blood of a lamb on their door. (Exodus 11, Exodus 12)
What stuck out to me was that many of these things were such pests and nasty things, getting worse and more severe as it went along. The further down the list it went, the more destruction it caused (hail and thunder ruin the fields, locusts eat the crops, etc.). Of course the last one, death of the firstborn son, was the worst and most severe of all the plagues.
Then my smarty pants boyfriend also shared and he thought it was interesting how darkness was the ninth plague. You would think that darkness would have been perhaps the second or third plague.
Joe read carefully and pointed out an important part: ’21 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.”’
That is some serious kind of DARK, huh? It said that no one could see each other or move about for three days. WHOA.
I think it’s possible today to be walking around in the light of day and still feel like you are engulfed in darkness. When I was depressed, I used to feel so alone and unable to embrace and understand those who were around me.
(If you are ever feeling this darkness where you feel that you cannot connect with others at all, open your heart to God for healing, comfort, and to bring the joy back to your life. If anything, find ONE person who you know will listen and not judge.)
God never meant for us to be alone or deal with things by ourselves. Why would He inflict this plague as the second to last one? Because we were created to have a loving relationship with Him and with others.
This morning was lovely. I set my alarm for 9.5 hours ahead (because I wanted to catch up on some quality sleep after traveling all weekend). I woke up to the alarm feeling totally rested and fresh!
My breakfast was nothing out of the norm: Kefir, Kashi GoLean Crunch (about 1 cup), one banana, about a tsp of chia seeds, and a big scoop of peanut butter. And hot coffee, of course.
Eating it in this Chococat bowl makes me happy
Went to Target and ran some other errands before coming back home.
My lunch was simple and delicious (sorry I didn’t even attempt to make this look nice!). Rice, about 1/2 cup of beans (I don’t know what kind they are, but they are TASTY), asparagus, one boiled egg, and about 1 tbsp of an Asian dressing.
Those beans made it surprisingly filling! It took less that 5 minutes to prep… an even less time to eat, haha.
So I’m trying to get back to being completely boring and simple with my meals. I have been bad by going out to eat a lot, as well as eating a crazy huge amount of sweets. I’ll TRY to save my desserts for the weekends and make easy meals at home for the most part.
OH! And speaking of weekend: in a few days, our church young adult group is heading to YOSEMITE for our retreat! WOO HOO! There is bound to be some awesome trail runs/hiking and fellowship in store for the weekend. I’m so excited!
I use a lot of emoticons. I don’t care if they’re lame. ;D
I’ll head to the gym after work or do an Insanity video at home.
What are some foods that you eat on a daily basis? (for me: eggs, yogurt, and peanut butter).
