Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Dude. I hit up the gym last night with my roommate and it was fantastic! On my training schedule last night? The dreaded speedwork. You know I hate speedwork… you’ve heard it enough.
Well, I can say that last night was the first time I enjoyed it. *GASP*. Actually, it might possibly be because I took it too easy? But whatevers.
Treadmill: warm up for 1 mile (8:30).
1st 800 (which is 2 laps around the track or 0.50 mile): 8.4 to 8.7 mph. 0.25 mile jog-walk recovery.
2nd 800: 8.5 to 8.8 mph. 0.25 mile jog-walk recovery.
3rd 800: 8.6 to 8.8 mph. 0.25 mile jog-walk recovery.
4th 800: 8.7 to 8.9 mph. 0.25 mile jog-walk recovery.
5th 800: 8.8 to 9.1 mph. 0.25 mile jog-walk recovery.
Then cooldown mile or so.
Total: 5.50 mile, 45:18 (plus 0.25 mile walking at the very end).
You see what I did there? I tried to make each of the 800′s faster than the previous one and always creep up in pace during the 800. I’m pretty sure that next time I should be starting somewhere around 8.8 mph, but whatever. I must have been super bloated and fully-stocked with my glycogen stores because I was super energized!
^(this workout was not done on a track… but I’m thinking of doing my next speed workout there).
When I got home, I put on something to watch (Law & Order: SVU) and just did about 25 minutes of yoga on my own.
On the agenda today? Read, read, read, study, class, running?, and Bikram yoga.
