As you know, I have been Miss Lazyjeans these days (or lazySWEATS). I was allowing myself to becoming a blob with the excuse of the holidays and I’m on break from school.
I wasn’t going to do anything productive or fruitful.
Then I read the passages from Living Life, which is starting on the book of Genesis.
I always thought that it was after the fall of man, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, that Adam was going to have to labor for his food.
Genesis 3, verses 17 to 19 talk about “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life… By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food…”
That’s perhaps common knowledge to those who know the story. For me what spoke out to me was earlier in the book.
In chapter two, when God formed man, it says in verse 15: “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
God put them in paradise, not to sit around and eat fruit and run around naked in the fields (though I’m sure they did plenty of that). The LORD also gave the man responsibility to work it and take care of it.
God was making it very clear to me in that very little passage, that even before humankind was in the bondage of sin, He still wanted us to be fruitful. Yes, God blessed Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply, but for us, we can be fruitful in many many ways.
During this break, I want to be productive. I want there to be some fruit that comes out of it.
It will also be a goal for the year…
… to teach myself how to play guitar!
I started last night and my poor fingers got owned. Guess I don’t have much hand strength, but I’m sure it will get stronger… and nice and callousy. SEXY.
So in whatever you are doing, do your best and be productive. That totally doesn’t mean sitting there all day and leveling up like crazy in MyVegas points (which would have been the case for me if I had not read that passage).
If you aren’t doing anything, find something to do! Teach yourself a new skill! Find new hobbies or get more skilled in what you’re already good at.
AbRipper X, Insanity Insane Abs, and then treadmill:
I simply alternated running 1.5 miles (around 6.8mph to 7.1 mph… nothing too fast) with 0.5 mile speed walking (4.8mph to 5.0mph). All of this was done on incline from 0% to 3.0%.
It was a fun treadmill session because I just kept changing things up! I did that 4 times and got in 8 miles for my Monday.
And if you think speedwalking is not difficult, YOU TRY IT. You put it to a speed where you’re certain it would be easier to start jogging. There’s some crazy hip-action and arm-swinging, and it should make you sweat like crazy.
Remember: you are amazing. Not because of anything you have done or will do, but because the One who created you and loves you unconditionally is AMAZING.
Have a wonderful Tuesday
