Okay. It wasn’t actually freezing, but it was pretty darned cold.
On our way to Lake Tahoe, my brother (Alex), Joe, and I stopped by at Davis Sushi for lunch.
There were other unpictured stuff.
I’m not a huge fan of Davis Sushi. They use too much rice, everything has shrimp tempura or imitation crab (or both)… and their sashimi can be pretty questionable. Their seared ahi tuna was definitely whack…
BUT it’s $13.95 for lunch all-you-can-eat, so I can’t really complain.
And I will admit… their freshly deep-fried salmon is delicious (OMG, I didn’t even get a picture of it!). It’s probably the safest thing to eat.
Even though the desserts just looked like whatevers, I had to get some anyways.
I shouldn’t have because we later got some Peet’s and I HAD TO stop by at the fro-yo place I went to last time. Cultive fro-yo has a lot of toppings to choose from:
When you can’t choose what to get, just get a little bit of everything:
That baby’s got green tea tart yogurt (which tasted kind of weird to me) and the original tart yogurt, chocolate-covered sunflower seeds, toasted almonds, candied nuts, Reese’s pieces, mangoes, raspberries, and a few blackberries.
I was tempted to get the Cap’n Crunch, animal crackers, M&M’s, and other fruits, but I was just supposed to get “a little”.
Anyways, it was a nice walk around Downtown Davis before we got back on the road to Tahoe:
______________
Once we arrived, we checked out the house and then I hit the road for a short run.
If you ever want to know what it would feel like to run butt-nekked, then run in 40 degree temperature with basketball shorts and short-sleeves:
^(Doesn’t my hair look like Lego-man hair?)
My legs became so cold and numb that I couldn’t feel the shorts anymore. I had to peek down a couple times just to make sure I was still wearing them.
Anywho, I did an easy 5K run around the neighborhood:
Oops kinda blurry. I was running. Dumb move considering there were some icy spots.
This was a nice and easy run. 8:33 average pace… except at some points, it felt like I was running 8:05. Maybe the elevation made it feel tougher?
_______________
We went to Orchid Authentic Thai Food in Tahoe for dinner. I was really happy with their spicy basil beef and pumpkin curry:
At the top of the plate is “fake” chicken salad (ground chicken, basil, carrots, onions, lime juice… not much other greens), pad see ew, steamed rice with the delicious PUMPKIN CURRY, and the spicy basil beef.
The pumpkin curry had big chunks of kabocha squash, which is my favorite! If I went back, I would be down with just getting that.

Plans for today? Go over to Sierra Tahoe with the church folks and we’ll hopefully be able to snow shoe!
